The Authors Guild of America show they're detached from reality

Authors Guild to Amazon Kindle: Shut Up

According to the authors guild (albeit potentially mis-reported or sensationalised by The Register), the Amazon Kindle 2 is comitting a copyright violation if/when its Text-To-Speech facility is used to read an eBook out-loud. Guys, it's text-to-speech, it won't kill the market for eBooks, have you tried to listen to synthesised speech for any length of time? The dulcet tones of Majel Barrett pretending to be a computer it isn't.

Not to mention - don't be so tight. Does this mean that it's illegal for a mother to read a book to her child? Or, that it's legal for a mother to read a book to her child, but not for her child to use something like the Kindle 2 to read it when the aforementioned mother is busy?
